Monthly Favorites #75: October, 2017

Do you read blogs directly or through a feed? I use Feedly, and I don’t even go to my own top page very frequently. Imagine my surprise when I realized that my blog looks very different from what I was previously used to! I had to change my layout because I didn’t like how my blog looked.

On to my favorites for this month!

Daiso Espoleur Lip Tint (link goes to my review)

These lip tints were very popular on the Japanese Instagram community, so I picked them up as soon as I saw them. I don’t usually like lip tints, but these had good pigmentation, but did not dry out my lips. And the price can’t be beat!

Wet ‘n Wild Loose Pigments (link goes to my Instagram review)

Another great product at a great price. These were limited edition, but you can probably find them online.

Sleek i-Divine Palette in Storm

I’ve had this in my collection for a long time. I love the pigmentation, and the colors are great for this time of year.

What have you loved this month?

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from February

This month, I revisited my monthly favorites from 20122011 and 2010.

My favorites products from February 2012 were:

This was a great inexpensive eyeliner which did not transfer!  I really enjoyed it, even though I did not like the brush or the packaging.
Unfortunately, I don’t wear this anymore since I switched to brown pencil eyeliners. I found that the combination of using the color brown and using a pencil eyeliner gave me a softer look.
This was an impulse buy while I was meeting up with another blogger.  I haven’t repurchased this product since Maybelline comes out with so many mascaras each year!

My favorites products from February 2011 was:

Lush Glogg Shower Gel (link goes to my review)

This product was a favorite over the holidays because the scent reminded me of mulled wine. While this product was re-released for the 2011 and 2012 holiday season, it was not released for the 2014 holiday season.

My favorites products from February 2010 was:
MAC 219 brush
I remember being so excited about finally getting a MAC 219 brush. I still love this brush and use it every day.  I have bought another 219 brush, and the shape is totally different. Since these are handmade, I strongly suggest that you take each brush in your hand and test it out before buying it.
Hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane!

Review: Wet ‘n Wild Color Icon palette in Comfort Zone – my go-to palette

This product was a gift from a friend unassociated with Wet ‘n Wild. All opinions are my own.

For the past months since I moved to Jakarta, I have been using the few eyeshadows that I brought in my suitcase – L’Oreal Infallibles and a certain Wet ‘n Wild Color Icon palette.  This palette was a gift from a friend of mine as it is not available in Japan.  Since I have been using this so much, it is high time I reviewed this – the Wet ‘n Wild Color Icon palette in Comfort Zone.

Here are swatches of the 4 colors on the left hand side of the palette.  I use this side mostly as it says on the back – the top shade as a highlight, the next two as lid colors, and the bottom as an outer crease or liner color.

Here are swatches of the 4 colors on the right hand side of the palette. I use the top two colors as lid colors, and the bottom two as outer crease or liner colors. (Unfortunately, the lighting is off – sorry for the greenish tint!)

Price: varies, has this for $5

Where to purchase: In the US, this product is available in drugstores (Walgreens, CVS, Duane Reade, etc) and discount stores (Target, Walmart, etc)

  • Great color payoff!
  • The colors in this palette are great for every day, and can be used for both a simple and a dramatic eye look
  • The darker colors are harder to blend for me
  • The famous MAC Club dupe (the bottom color on the right hand side) blends out to a really reddish brown. I’m disappointed that the duochrome is lost so quickly. Also, the prominent red undertones make me look bruised
Would I repurchase? Yes, and hopefully I can try out some of the other palettes as well.

I’m glad I brought this in my suitcase. It has been really useful to me while I wait for my shipment from Japan!
Hope you enjoyed this review!

Review: Wet ‘n Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner – a very inexpensive cream eyeliner

This is a review of the Wet ‘n Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner. This was a gift to me from Diana, who said she liked it better than MAC Fluidline.  Sounds promising!!

I have this in the color Black. The other color that is available is Eggplant, which looks like a purple color. Surprisingly, it does not come in brown.

Swatched on my arm. This is a few swipes of my brush.

What it does: (from
The precision of a liquid liner with the ease of a cream application, this velvet-rich eyeliner provides long-lasting definition in a waterproof formula. Easy-to-use brush included.

Price: will vary. has this for around $4.

  • This eyeliner does NOT budge from my eye. Even when I rubbed the above swatch several times, it did not move.
  • Although it is not extremely black, it is black enough for me to use
  • Very creamy and easy to use. I had this pot for nearly 1.5 years before I opened it, and it was still very creamy

  • Again, it is not as black as I would have liked
  • I really don’t like the packaging. There is a lot of excess plastic on the sides of the container to make it look bigger than it actually is.
  • This is a stock photo, but you can see that the sides of the container have no product in them. The container makes it look like there is 1.5 times more product than there actually is.

  • The brush that comes with this product is really big and I found it too big to use. Surprisingly, it is very soft, and it is much better quality than the brushes that I’ve seen come with other drugstore brand gel eyeliners.
  • You can see that the brush is about twice as wide as a Q-tip. It makes it very hard to get into corners or to draw an exact line.

Would I repurchase? Yes. So far, this is my favorite gel eyeliner from the drugstore. However, it takes me forever to get through eyeliner, so who knows what products will be on the market by the time I need to buy a new one!

Note: After I dip my brush into the product, I always wipe it off with a tissue. I find that this gets rid of any clumps and helps the eyeliner to apply more smoothly.

Hope you enjoyed my review!  Please let me know if you have a favorite drugstore gel eyeliner.

Up and Down #20: February, 2012

Wow, the first month of 2012 is already gone! I can’t wait until it gets warmer here. The high temperature is still below freezing here, and I miss sunshine!

On to my ups and downs!

Wet ‘n Wild Mega Eyes Cream Eyeliner
This was a gift from Diana a year and a half ago, but it is still very creamy. A review of this is coming up soon!

Maybelline Volum’ Express One by One mascara
I bought this when I was in Japan, but it is a product imported from the US. A review of this is coming up as well!

Cold weather
I can’t stand being in hot, humid weather all the time, but cold weather makes me miserable. I can’t go anywhere because it’s too cold here!!!  I realized that if I continue to live somewhere that it soooo cold in the winter, I need to take a winter vacation to a some place warm and sunny!
