Throwback Thursday: Favorites from January

This month, I revisited my annual favorites from 2011 and 2010.

My favorites products from 2011 were:

St Ives Green Tea cleanser (link goes to my review)

This is still my favorite cleanser. It foams up when I use a face washing net, it is lightly exfoliating, and I love the scent. However, it is a little hard for me to find when I go to the US recently.

Mezaik

I used to use Mezaik to change the shape of my double eyelids. This may sound strange to you, but it is a huge obsession for many Japanese and Asian girls. I haven’t used Mezaik recently as I realized it makes me look sleepy in pictures. The packaging of Mezaik has changed recently, so watch out for that if you are looking for it.
I never repurchased this mascara since there are so many on the market. I remember I liked it because it did not smudge under my eye and gave me good volume.
Gosh Lipstick in Darling
This is a super affordable version of MAC’s Myth. Unfortunately both make me look dead. However, I like to layer this on top of other lipsticks which are too bright on my face.
Sonia Kashuk blush brush
I have a love hate relationship with most blush brushes, but I like this one because it is soft and the hairs do not irritate my skin.  It is also super affordable!
Clarisonic
After owning a Clarisonic for several years, it seems that mine will no longer hold a charge.  I may have to repurchase it soon.

My favorites products from 2010 were:

Soap & Glory The Fab Pore Facial Peel (link goes to my review)

Since Soap & Glory is not widely available in Japan, I never got a chance to repurchase this product. This is a great mask for getting gunk out of your pores.  Lush’s Mask of Magnaminty has a similar effect.

Lush Honey I Washed the Kids Soap (link goes to my review)

I never repurchased this product since Lush has so many soaps that I can’t keep up!  This product and Lush’s It’s Raining Men shower gel have the same scent, so you can choose whether you prefer soaps or shower gels.

Lush Coal Face Cleanser (link goes to my review)

As much as I loved this product, I never repurchased it! I may decide to pick this up again in the summer.

VOV Watershot Foundation  (review here and here)
This was my favorite foundation while I lived in China.  It is a very natural looking foundation which feels very light on the skin. These days, I prefer my Estee Lauder Double Wear.
Barry M Dazzle Dusts in Mushroom (mentioned several times in my blog, look here)
This is still one of my favorite Barry M Dazzle Dusts. Each pot contains so much product that I am still working through them, 4 years later!
(swatch second from left)
Sonia Kashuk Flat Top Brush (mentioned several times in my blog, look here)
This used to be my favorite way of applying foundation. These days, I prefer round top brushes, such as the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.

MAC 217
I still use this every day and it is one the essential brushes in my collection.  Since they are hand cut, each one is slightly different.  I definitely like one of my 217s better than the other!
Hope you enjoyed this look back to my old favorites!

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from October 2011 & 2012

This month, I’m going back to October 2011 and 2012 to revisit my favorites.

In October 2011 & 2012, I liked:

Lush Godiva solid shampoo
Out of all of the Lush solid shampoos I’ve used so far, this is the one I recommend the most. It is the least drying to my hair.

Lush It’s Raining Men shower gel
This was limited edition when I first purchased it, but has since become a permanent product. This is a great shower gel if you like the Lush Honey I Washed the Kids soap.

Queen Helene Oatmeal ‘n Honey Facial Scrub
Considering how much I liked this facial scrub, I am surprised I don’t have a review on it.  I should repurchased it on my next visit to the US!

Sonia Kashuk Flat Top Brush
This was my favorite foundation brush for a long time, although now I prefer the Real Techniques expert face brush.

You can see that unfortunately, I haven’t repurchased any of the products I listed in my favorites. There are quite a few that I recommend, though, so please try these products out if you have a chance!

Hope you enjoyed this look back at my previous favorites!

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from September 2011 & 2012

This month, I will look back at my favorites from September 2011 and 2012!

In September 2011, I liked:

Sonia Kashuk Blusher blush
This is really a great brush. It is softer than most of my expensive blush brushes, and it is available at Target. Unfortunately, I ruined this brush and haven’t been able to pick up a new one.

In September 2012, I liked:

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
I remember liking this shimmery, pink-coral blush a lot, especially in the summer.  I have no idea where this blush went… did it get lost because of my frequent moves? I will have to search around for it.

Any previous favorites that you have rediscovered recently?

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from August 2011 & 2012… and 2010

It’s time to take a look at my old favorites, and see if I still like them!  Here are my favorites from August 2011 & 2012.

In August 2011, I liked:

The Body Shop’s Tobacco Flower perfume
I still very much adore this perfume, and am so devastated that Body Shop hasn’t brought it back!

In August 2012, I liked:

I did not introduce any beauty-related products in my favorites of August 2012. This was the month that the company I work for announced that I was going to move from China to Indonesia.  I shared some of the cultural things I went through while I worked in China.

Oh dear, this blog post has gotten a little sappy!   Here are my favorites from August 2010 to show that I am a beauty blogger!

In August 2010, I liked:

Sonia Kashuk Flat Top Brush
I still think this is a great brush for applying your foundation, if you prefer flat top brushes.
I prefer having a rounded buffing brush, and have been loving the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.

Coastal Scents Arubian Coral Mica eyeshadow
I really loved this eyeshadow, but I don’t know if I still own it.
These days, if I am looking for a shimmery eyeshadow, I usually reach for one of the L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows.

Hope you enjoyed this trip back memory lane!

Favorite Products 2011

Happy New Year everyone! I hope 2012 is a fantastic year for you!

Here are my favorite products of 2011. As many of you know, I bought almost nothing last year. It has helped me make a dent in my huge stash. I brought 3 full boxes of beauty products with me when I moved in October of 2010, but now I’m down to about 1 box.

Please also check out my favorites of 2010 and 2009. I still love a lot of those items!

Best Skin care item

This is the only new skin care item that I loved. It is a great daily cleanser that exfoliates gently. I love the scent as well!

Best makeup items

Mezaik
In 2011, I started to use Mezaik to change the shape of my double eyelids. Now, it is a must have product for me!

Drugstore companies come out with so many new mascaras that it s difficult to tell which one is which. This was a great volumizing mascara.
Gosh Lipstick in Darling
I picked this up in London only because it was so hyped on the internet. It is too flesh-toned for me and makes me look dead. However, I love it to tone down lipsticks that are too bright for me. A lot of Japanese girls use concealers for this purpose, which dry out my lips and make them flake. This is a very creamy lipstick, and I wish I had picked up some different colors.  It is also super affordable!

Best tools

Sonia Kashuk blush brush
This is a great brush – it is soft and affordable. Unfortunately, I ruined mine, so I really really need to buy a new one!
Clarisonic
I love my Clarisonic, but I only use it during the warmer months!

Favorite new tips/tricks

I’ve done quite a few rounds of Project 10 Pan in the past. In this post, I shared with you my tips and tricks to be able to stick to it.

I used to travel a lot for work, so I’ve picked up a few tips on how to pack beauty products so that you don’t either over- or under-pack.
Who doesn’t want to squeeze out more uses from their bath bombs?  By using this technique, you can get more from your bath bombs without feeling like you’ve sacrificed anything.

Most reviewed brand on Cosmeddicted in 2011

Lush (14 times)
You may not be surprised, but I am! I had no idea I reviewed 14 different Lush products this year, since I bought only 1 new item. This is an increase from 2010, when I reviewed 8 Lush products!

Favorite Lush item

This has been one of my favorite products for a very long time. It is also super expensive in Japan, so I take every opportunity to buy it in the US or in the UK!

Favorite blog post of 2011

This is my favorite post because it took so long before I got around to doing it. Originally, I planned to post this as my very first blog post, back in March of 2009! I had a lot of fun making the picture above as well!

Most viewed blog post

Amazing – I posted this in the August 2010, and it continues to be the top viewed post on this blog!

Please leave a comment letting me know what you would like to see more of this year!
