Empties from November 2016 – March 2017

Here are some of my empties from the recent months!

Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural N9 (link goes to my review)

I received this as part of the Sephora birthday gift. I loved this color, and the texture also worked well with my lips.

I wish all lipsticks came in this size!

NO7 Dramatic Lift Mascara

I bought this mascara after reading many great reviews, but unfortunately it smudged on me!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl eyeliner

I liked this eyeliner pencil, and the color was a little bit lighter than what I usually use.

NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base (link goes to my review)

I really liked this eyeshadow primer! It made my eyeshadow last very well!

Kao Sofina Prima Vista primer (link goes to my review)

This primer is really popular in Japan! It made my foundation last throughout the day, even though it didn’t keep my skin fully matte.

L’Oréal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray

I’m so glad that drugstore brands are coming out with setting sprays!

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche

This is a limited edition perfume that Estee Lauder launches each summer.  I loved this so much that I bought a full size bottle!

Seabreeze Deo + Water Deodorant (link goes to my review)

This is my staple deodorant and I go through it quite frequently!

Lush Yuzu and Cocoa shower gel (link goes to my review)

This is the most recent Lush body wash that I bought.  It is an interesting scent, a mixture of citrus and chocolate.

Muji Jojoba oil

I purchased this oil last winter to combat my dry skin. It worked well, but I think I prefer a lighter oil

Hope you enjoyed to see my empties!

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from July

This month, I am revisiting my favorites from July 2014 and 2015.  It seems I didn’t do a favorites in July 2013.  Apparently I have a habit of skipping favorites in the summer!

All links go to my past reviews!

In July 2015, I liked:

L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup

I recently finished this foundation! I bought this because everyone was talking about it.  It didn’t feel special, but it blended beautifully, looked good on my skin, and lasted quite well.  I would buy it again!

L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup

Ahhh, this was one of my favorites in the summer for quite a few years.  It is a local Indonesian brand which I recommend.  It is also very affordable!
Martha Tilaar Caring Colours Everlast BB Cream
I never repurchased this, but I did like how it made my eyelashes look.
Maybelline Volum' Express Pumped Up! Colossal mascara

Milani Eyeshadow primer

I recently started using this again, after I ran out of the UDPP.  This is very affordable and works well on my oily eyelids. I also love how simple the packaging is!

Noevir facial wash

I never repurchased this because it is VERY expensive.  Although this is a Japanese brand, this particular product is surprisingly unavailable in Japan.

Noevir Cleansing Crystals

Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder

I loved the product, but I hated the packaging.  The lid broke in several places before I used up the product.

In July 2014, I liked:

Gatsby Ice Wipes

This is one of my holy grail products in the summer. I reviewed this in 2010 and I still use it.  I use it in the summer when I feel sticky but don’t feel like taking yet another shower, and it makes my body feel cooler and fresher.  Definitely a must have!

Gatsby body paper

Shirt Cool

This is a menthol spray that is applied to clothing, and will keep  you cool for about 30 minutes.  It is another must have for the summer!  I usually go through a bottle each year.

Biore UV Perfect Milk Sunscreen

This is one of my favorite sunscreens for spring and early summer. It is affordable, so that I can use it liberally.

Milani Shadow Eyez eyeshadow pencils

This was my favorite cream shadow for such a long time!  I tried to find it again when I was in New York, but I wasn’t able to.

Hope you enjoyed a look at my past favorites!

Empties from November 2015 to February 2016 – Part 1

Here are some of my emptiness from November 2015 to February 2016. I’m always surprised at how many empties people have each month.  I struggle to use up even a whole bottle of shower gel!

(all links go to reviews I have done before)

Milani Shadow Eyez in Champagne Toast

I recommend these eyeshadow pencils so much. They look great by themselves or as a base, and they don’t crease!

YSL Le Teint Encre De Peau foundation

I never did a review on this foundation because when I got it, it was already discontinued. I did not like the applicator, but this gave my skin a nice even finish without looking too cakey.

IMG_7213

Skinfood Buckwheat loose powder

I completely forgot about this product until I realized it was taking up a lot of space in my makeup drawer.  It is a finely milled powder that I can apply on top of my makeup without looking too unnatural.

Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder

While I liked the product itself, I did not like the packaging. The plastic top will crack if you keep the product where it can get squeezed.

IMG_7201

Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Orange Ginger shower gel

This is still one of my favorite scents from Bath and Body Works. If you are looking for a shower gel which isn’t too floral or fruity, take a look at this one.

IMG_7055

Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Lavender Vanilla shower gel

This is another one of my favorites from Bath and Body Works. It is a change to have a vanilla scented product which isn’t very sweet.

Stay tuned for part 2 of my empties!

Review: Rimmel BB Cream Matte 9-in-1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup

This is a review of the Rimmel BB Cream Matte 9-in-1. Last time I was in the US, I wanted to pick up a BB cream from a non-Asian brand. BB creams are my favorite form of base makeup during the summer.
Rimmel BB CreamWhat it does: (from Rimmel’s website)

Rimmel’s 1st 9-in-1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup 9 in 1 results: Primes, moisturizes, minimizes pores, conceals, covers, smoothes, mattifies, brightens, and helps protect. Lightweight, ultra comfortable formula instantly gives a flawless, 100% natural finish. SPF 25
Price: Like all drugstore products in the US, the price of this will vary depending on where you buy it. Target online lists this for $6.50

Availability: This and other Rimmel products are widely available in the US in drugstores (Walgreens, CVS, etc) and supermarkets (Target, Walmart, etc).

Pros:

  • Light and easy to blend
  • I like that this product comes in a squeeze tube, which is hygienic and also low cost

Cons:

  • I felt this product was very greasy. It does not set at all, and I really don’t understand how it can be marketed as a mattifying product.
  • This product comes in only 2 shades. Really!?

Would I repurchase? No. Unfortunately my first American BB cream purchase did not work out. This product was greasy on my skin, and seemed to constantly slip around.

Do you have an American BB cream that you recommend?

Hope you enjoyed this review!

Review: Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder

One of my favorites products to keep my face less shiny is the MAC Blot Powder. I tend to go through a lot of it during the summer, so I wanted to find something at the drugstore which I could use instead. I picked up the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder after seeing reviews of it online.

Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder

What it does: (from the Rimmel website)

Up to 5 hours natural shine control with natural minerals. Helps minimize the appearance of pores.

Price: As with all US drugstore products, the price will vary depending on where you buy it. Walgreens.com lists this product for $5.30

Color: This product is available in 8 shades. I have it in Transparent.

Availability: This product is widely available in drugstores and supermarkets

Pros:

  • This product reduced shine without feeling cakey
  • This product is not overly silicone-y
  • The product does not make my skin white or ashy

Cons:

  • I really don’t like the packaging. Because there is space between the lid and the product, the lid gets smooshed in my makeup bag. There are several cracks in the lid now, and I am pretty sure that it will get broken before I use up the product.
  • I did not feel that this kept my skin matte for 5 hours

Would I repurchase? No. While it’s not a bad product, it did not keep my skin shine free!

Over the last few years, I have really come to embrace the shine and oil on my face in the summer.  However, I still am on the hunt for a good product to keep my skin matte!
