Empties from November 2015 to February 2016 – Part 2

This is part 2 of my recent empties. Where do you normally keep your empties?

(all links go to reviews I have done before)

Marc Jacobs Honey Eau de Parfum

I liked this scent quite a lot, and am considering buying the full sized bottle.

Tory Burch Eau de Perfume

This is a great scent for the young professional woman.  It is feminine without smelling too sweet, and is not offensive – but be careful how much you apply!

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum

I did not know when I tried this product that it is such a popular fragrance! This was heavier than most scents I am used to wearing, so I am glad I got to try it in the cooler months.

Bath and Body Works Ultra Shea Body Cream in White Tea & Ginger

I liked this body cream much, much better than Bath and Body Works’ normal body lotions.

Nivea Sun Protect Water Gel

This is a sunscreen that I apply on my face every single day. It provides SPF 50+ without making my face greasy. It contains alcohol though, so don’t apply it to your face if you have sensitive skin.

Sea Breeze Deo & Water Frozen Mint

This is a new product in the Sea Breeze Deo & Water line, and has a stronger menthol feeling. It was very refreshing in the summer, but too cold in the cooler months.

Bath and Body Works Sparkling Limeade candle

I liked the scent of this candle, but as you can see from the black marks on the container, this did not burn evenly.  I’ve realized that Bath and Body Works don’t sell many of their candles in the small size anymore!

The Body Shop Lavender Home Fragrance Oil

This was a nice lavender scent.  If you are looking for a pure lavender oil, this is not the right product, but it is great if you are looking for a lavender scented oil

Those are all of my recent empties! What products have you used recently?

Empties for April 2015

I usually only do an empties post every few months, but for some reason I have a lot of empties in the month of April.

Bath and Body Works Vanilla Bean Marshmallow Candle (link goes to my review)

I really liked this candle, more than I expected. I have been unexpectedly liking sugary scents lately!
Bath and Body Works Vanilla Bean Marshmallow Empty

Bath and Body Works Twilight Woods shower gel (link goes to my review)

This is a much loved, much repurchased product. I like that the scent is pretty unisex, without any overly floral tones. I think this particular one was a gift from a good friend of mine.

Johnson’s Body Care Extra Care hand cream

This product and the entire line of Johnson’s Body Care seems to not be available in the US or UK. This was a hand cream that I used in the early spring. I liked that it was moisturizing without feeling heavy.

Bifesta Uruochi cleansing lotion (link goes to my review)

I picked up this product wondering if it would be a dupe for the Bioderma. While I liked the simplicity of just wiping my face, I found that this product did not completely remove my eyeliner and mascara.

Baby Oil

This winter, my skin was so dry that body lotions made my skin itch. I used baby oil for a while, and this was the cheapest one I could find.  Later, I switched to using pure olive oil on my skin.

Marc Jacobs Honey Eau de Parfum (link goes to my review)

Although this is only a sample, it lasted me over a month! I ended up buying the roller ball, which is also lasting me for a long time.

RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream

I have purchased this quite a few times, but it looks like I never wrote a review of it. I like that it is hydrating moisturizer that sinks into my skin very quickly.

Bath and Body Works Fresh Brazil Citrus body lotion (link goes to my review)

I enjoyed the scent of this product, which smelled of pineapple and citrus. It reminded me of tropical summers!

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray (link goes to my review)

After I cut my hair to a bob, I have been really loving salt sprays to give an effortless look to my hair!

Muji Blend Essential Oil in Relax

I don’t even know if Muji still sells this essential oil blend! I really enjoyed the lavender scent.

Review: Marc Jacobs Honey Eau de Parfum

How do you find a new perfume? I usually become interested in new perfumes after reading magazine articles on them, or I saw something about it online.  Then I smell it in a store, and decide whether I want to purchase it or not. I am really bad about just browsing for a perfume – I tend to get overwhelmed!  If you know of a good online resource which can help me find a new perfume, please let me know!

I suppose I found out about the Marc Jacobs Honey perfume in a magazine somewhere.  I like floral perfumes and I like the smell of honey, so this perfume got me interested.  But since I couldn’t find this product in Japan, I didn’t want to commit to a full sized bottle. I’m glad I settled on a rollerball, since I have been using this product regularly but it is still over half full!

What it does: (from the Sephora website)

Honey by Marc Jacobs is a sunny, delicious floral—energetic and alluring, with a sparkling, golden touch. The perfect mix of brightness and warmth.

This buzzing fragrance energizes with the freshness of green pear and a bright splash of fruity punch and juicy mandarin. Orange blossom resides at the heart of the fragrance and mingles with the nectars of honeysuckle and peach for a note of sparkling femininity. Honey, vanilla, and smooth woods dry down to a warm, golden base.

Notes: Pear, Juicy Mandarin, Orange Blossom, Peach Nectar, Apricot, Honeysuckle, Honey, Golden Vanilla, Smooth Woods.

Price: The rollerball was $24 for 0.33 fluid ounces. The bottles range from $52-94, depending on the size.

Availability: This fragrance is available at Marc Jacobs stores, Sephora, Ulta, as well as department stores.

Scent: This is not the strongest floral scent that I’ve tried and is quite fruity. After it dries down, I can also smell some herbally, woody scents.

  • I like that this scent mixes floral notes with fruity, woody notes
  • This is a light fragrance, and I like to use it in the spring and summer

  • This scent does not last long on my skin

Would I repurchase? Maybe. I liked the scent, and will use up the rollerball. However, I am not sure that I love it enough to commit to buying a whole bottle!

Let me know what your favorite fragrance is!

Monthly Favorites #52: April, 2015

I’ve mentioned before that April is the start of the school year in Japan, and also the start of the Fiscal Year in many Japanese companies. During this season, I always want to buy new stationery – probably similar to how I want to buy Back to School stuff if I’m in the US at the end of August.

On to my Monthly Favorites!

Milani eyeshadow primer
(link goes to my review)

This is such a great primer for oily eyelids like mine. It is affordable and in a simple squeeze tube, and it keeps my eyeshadow vibrant and creaseproof for the entire day.

Marc Jacobs Honey Perfume

I bought a roller ball of this perfume when I was in New York last spring, and have fallen back in love this spring! This has a fresh, slightly fruity scent which dries down to warmer notes.

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray
(link goes to my review)

I’m still in love with this spray and how it makes my hair look effortless.  It works especially well now that my hair is chin length.

Bath and Body Works Cinnamon donut candle

This is another candle that I bought at Bath and Body Works during my trip. I typically don’t like such sweet scents, but this one has been nice.

What were your favorites this past month?
