Throwback Thursday: Favorites from April

A little late, but better than never! Here are my favorites from April 2013 and 2014.

All links go to my reviews.

In April 2014, I liked:

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup

I think I go back to this foundation every year when the weather gets warm.  Right now, I am wearing the MUFE Mat Velvet+, but I think I need to get out this foundation soon.

Barry M Dazzle Dusts

I still think these are great.  They are so affordable, and come in many different colors!

In April 2013, I liked:

Lush Cynthia Sylvia Stout Beer Shampoo

This was a limited edition product which I didn’t get to repurchase. I thought that the beer aspect was just a marketing ploy, but the shampoo turned out to be much better than I expected! I hope they rerelease this some time!

Maybelline the Colossal Volum Express Mascara

This is one of the few mascaras that I have ever repurchased.  The brush is massive, and takes some getting used to.  However,  I liked how it made my eyelashes look full without sticking together, and it did NOT smudge under my eyes!

MAC Blot Powder

This is a product which I regularly repurchase when I am in the US.  It does a great job at taking away the shine on my face without looking cakey. I have yet to find a good alternative at the drugstore!

Monthly Favorites #64: May, 2016

I’m finally back to regular blogging, and what better way than to start off with a favorites post! I picked up a lot of new products when I was in New York, but I’ll save those for a future favorites post.

This month, I liked:

MAC Sumptuous Olive eyeshadow

This is a veluxe pearl finish, which is a favorite of many people.

Kate mascara base

This is my favorite mascara primer, and gives me a lot of length and volume.  Kate is a drugstore brand in Japan. While most drugstores don’t have discounts or sales, Kate can be regularly found at 30-35% off.

MKB Cleansing Oil

This is a makeup remover from Matsumoto Kiyoshi, a major Japanese drugstore. Even though it is from their store brand, I found that this makeup remover works better than many others that I have used. I also like that it doesn’t have a fragrance.

Monthly Favorites #63: March, 2016

Wow, the days are definitely getting longer. Sunrise is much earlier!  It’s still pretty cold, though, and my skin is kind of dry.  Here are my favorites for this past month!

Muji Jojoba oil

I like to mix a drop of this into my moisturizer. I bought a small bottle, and it looks like it will last for a very long time.

Sleek i-Divine Safari Palette (link goes to my review)

I like the greenish brown shadows in this palette. The Sleek palettes are affordable and pigmented, especially if you purchase them in the UK.  The shadows have a lot of fall down, though, so I always need to tap my brush off.

MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle

I’m a big fan of the MAC MSFs, and I have several in my collection.  Although there is always a lot of hype over the limited edition MSFs, I found that this one from their permanent collection fits my skin tone the most.

Monthly Favorites #57: September, 2015

Here are my favorites for the past month. It was SUPER hot this summer in Japan!!  It has cooled off dramatically over the past few weeks, but I am still using a lot of products which are designed to keep me cool!

On to my favorites!

MAC Blot Powder

I usually buy one compact of MAC Blot Powder every time I go to the US. It keeps my skin semi-matte in the hot summer months. It doesn’t last long when I sweat, though, so I end up carrying it around in my purse so I can reapply it.

Daiso Eyebrow coat (link goes to my review)

This is a product which I used to use religiously when I was first starting out my blog. I stopped using it for a while after I started growing out my eyebrows, but I recently started using it again. It really helps whatever product I used in my eyebrows to stay put.

Daiso Ever Bilena Eyebrow Coat

Daiso Eyeliner coat

This is a product I found out about recently. It is a liquid which you apply on top of your eyeliner to keep it from rubbing off. I apply it to my bottom lash line so that my eyeliner lasts all day.

Shirt Cool (link goes to my review)

I don’t think I could have survived this summer without this product. I apply it to the insides of my clothing, and it keeps me cool for about 30 minutes.

Gatsby Ice Deodorant Body Paper (link goes to my review)

This is a great product for wiping away stickiness, and it keeps me feeling cool afterwards. I have 3 open packets of this – one at home, one at work, and a travel size packet in my purse.

Monthly Favorites #55: July, 2015

Although I mention this every year, June is not summer in Japan. From mid-June to mid-July is the rainy season, where temperatures drop to the late April range, it is humid, and it RAINS.  Unlike most of Southeast Asia where rainy season consists of a few hours of crazy rain, the rainy season in Japan means that it will be drizzling for days and days.  Yes, we do have downpours, but they are usually in early August.

My favorites this month reflect this “in between” temperature. While I want to transition into shorts and flip flops, sometimes it is still too cold!

On to my favorites!

L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup

I picked this up in February because I had read so many blog posts about how great of a foundation it is. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it blends well into the skin and looks very natural.

Martha Tilaar Caring Colours Everlast BB cream (link goes to my review)

I mentioned this product in a recent Throwback Thursday, where I revisit my previous favorites. I rediscovered how much I like this BB cream, and that I need to use it up very soon.

Maybelline Volum’ Express Pumped Up! Colossal mascara

This was a gift from a friend, and I very much like this mascara! It gives me good volume and does not leave black smudges under my eyes.

MAC Honey Lust eyeshadow (Center top eyeshadow, diagonally across from the pink eyeshadow that has hit pan)

This was one of the first MAC eyeshadows I ever purchased, but I had forgotten all about it. It gives a nice metallic finish to my eyes and the color is very flattering.

Milani eyeshadow primer (link goes to my review)

Every year around late May, my eyeshadow starts creasing even with primer underneath. I switched to this Milani eyeshadow primer this year, since I had noticed before that it was drier than UDPP. This really keeps eyeshadow from creasing on my oily eyelids, and I’ll be sure to pick up another tube next time I’m in the US.

Noevir facial wash (link goes to my review)

I hadn’t used powdered face cleansers in a while, and I’m loving how this one keeps my skin smooth.

Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder

I usually use the MAC Blot Powder in the summer to keep shine at bay. I bought this product to see if I could find a similar product at a drugstore price. I’m loving it so far!
