Throwback: Favorites from November

It’s not Thursday, but here is a look back at my favorites from November 2013 and 2014.

In November 2014, I liked:

MAC Blush in Cantaloupe
I loved this blush! I’m not even sure where it is… I’ll need to dig it out.  I went to a lot of trouble to find this blush!!  This is a peachy pink without shimmer.

MAC  Studio Finish concealer in NW25

Amazingly, I used this up entirely.  It took a long time!  I like how full coverage this is.  I even use this under my eyes, blended with a beauty blender.

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation (link goes to my review)

This is one of my most loved foundations, and pops up on my favorites regularly.  I was lucky enough to find a pump that fit it from Daiso.

In November 2013, I liked:

Although this was one of my favorite foundations for a long time, I don’t think I’ll ever repurchase this. The packaging is just too bulky!  Also, Revlon foundations are getting ridiculously expensive for a drugstore product.
Laneige firming sleeping pack(link goes to my review)
I never repurchased this because it is difficult to find in Japan. However, I’ve heard that it is now available at Target in the US! If you see it, I definitely recommend you pick it up.  Sleeping masks are a great easy way to pamper your skin while you sleep.  Amazingly, they don’t mess up your pillow!
Hope you enjoyed this look back at old favorites!

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from January

This is very late, but here is a look back at the products I liked in January 2014 and 2013!

For more information on each product, click on the links to go to my reviews!

In January 2014, I liked:

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes

These are a long time favorite of mine, and I pick up a package whenever I am in the US. I have tried other makeup remover wipes since then, but these still win!

Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Energy

This is probably my favorite Bath and Body Works scent. It smells slightly sweet, slightly gingery, and slightly citrus-y.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye

I have never really found an eye cream that I felt worked… except for this. It is a gel-like consistency, which works great on my oily eyes.

Martha Tilaar Caring Colours Everest BB Cream

This is a local Indonesian BB cream that I picked up after reading a few Indonesian beauty blogs. It had decent coverage and lasted even in the hot and humid weather. I was a little sad when I finished it!

L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows

These have been a hit since they first came out, and I can’t stop hunting for the next greatest color. My current top favorite is Amber Rush, but there are quite a few colors to choose from.

In January 2013, I liked:

Lush Olive Branch Shower Gel

This is one of my favorite Lush shower gels. I’ve found that I really like bergamot scents, as well as other woody scents which are not overly feminine.

Laneige Water Sleeping Pack Ex

I picked up this pack in Korea, but since then, Laneige products have become more widely available. This product, for example, can be found on the Target website!

L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara

This mascara made my lashes thicker without clumps, and made it look like I had more lashes. It also did not transfer under my eyes, which is my biggest complaint with most mascaras.

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from November

I always enjoy taking a look at my previous favorites. This year, I am revisiting my favorites from 2013 and 2012.

In November 2013, I liked:

Revlon ColorStay Whipped Creme Foundation (link goes to my review)

This was also in my favorites in October as well. This is a whopping $20 in Japan, so I haven’t repurchased it after using it up. I wish it came in a smaller container!  Overall, I like the ColorStay liquid foundation better.

Laneige firming sleeping pack (link goes to my review)

I really like sleeping masks to pamper my skin easily. I prefer the Laneige Water Sleeping Pack to this one, although this is also a great product.

In November 2012, I liked:

Lush Twilight Shower Gel (link goes to my review)

This was a limited edition product for the 2012 holidays. I’m not sure whether it has been repromoted since.  I really enjoyed this product which has a really different scent from other typical holiday products.

Daiso false eyelashes (link goes to my review)

When I first posted about these false eyelashes, they were the only ones on the market which were affordable. Nowadays, every 100 yen store has several lines of false eyelashes. The ones shown below have a thick band, which makes them easy for me to put on, but a little uncomfortable to wear.

Hope you enjoyed looking back at my previous favorites!

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from March

This month, I revisited my monthly favorites from March 2012 & 2014. I was going to do a March 2013 throwback, but it looks like I did not do a favorites that month.

Here are my favorites from March 2012:

Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX
(link goes to my review)

This was a great mask that left my skin hydrated and not sticky. Unfortunately, I didn’t repurchase it since I never found a place to purchase it near me. Laneige is becoming easier to find outside of Korea, so I do recommend picking this up if you have a chance.

Here are my favorites from March 2014:

Revlon ColorStay Whipped Creme Foundation
(link goes to my review)

This product was all the rave on Youtube last year. While I liked the foundation, the packaging is HUGE.  I personally prefer the original ColorStay liquid foundation to this product.

Dejavu Lasting Fine R Pencil eyeliner
(link goes to my review)

This was a great eyeliner when I wanted to line my eyes yet still look natural. This product lasts even on my lower lids!  I definitely recommend it if you want a natural looking  eyeliner.

Urban Decay Naked 3 palette

Has it been a year already since this palette was released? Rose gold looks good on me, so I really enjoy this palette. Of the 3 Naked palettes, my top favorite is the original Naked palette.

MAC Naked Lunch eyeshadow

I still love this eyeshadow, but I haven’t reached for it lately since there is another gold highlight color I am trying to use up. This post reminded me how much I enjoy this color!

Are there any products you rediscovered lately?

Review: Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack – pamper your skin while you sleep

Every year as the weather turns cooler, I rush around to change my skin care. My skin is combination, and I have oilier skin in the summer and drier skin in the winter.  Therefore, my summer skin care and my winter skin care are totally different!  I have mentioned several times that Japan has been super hot this year and that it continued to be hot into October.  Now that the weather is getting colder, it is getting cold super fast!

Sleeping packs are a very convenient way to pamper your skin.  Because I can go to sleep without washing it off, it is great for busy people like me.  I have previously reviewed 2 other sleeping packs, the Skinfood Fermented Pomegranate Whitening Sleeping Pack, and the Laneige Water Sleeping Pack Ex.  This is a review of another sleeping pack from Laniege, the Laniege Firming Sleeping Pack.
What it does: (from Laniege’s website)
A supple and resilient sleeping pack that restores skin firmness while you sleep

Price: this product is around $30 online. I could not find the price in Korea.

Pros:

  • Sleeping masks are super easy and convenient to use!
  • The scent is quite light, although it smells like a generic bath product
Cons:
  • While this product does not feel sticky on my skin, it does not absorb as well as other sleeping masks.  The remnant is particularly noticeable when I washed my face the next morning.
Notes:
This product feels like jelly on my skin, instead of like cream as I imagined. When I first applied it to my skin, I was worried that it would not spread evenly.  However, after massaging it in, it smoothed out into a liquid-like consistency.
Although I did not personally see any firming benefits from this product, there are several reviews online saying that this product worked for them.
Would I repurchase? No.  This was not a bad product, but the residue was a little off-putting for me.
Are there any Japanese brands which make sleeping packs?  I only know of products from Korean brands.
Hope you enjoyed this review!
