Empties from November 2016 – March 2017

Here are some of my empties from the recent months!

Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural N9 (link goes to my review)

I received this as part of the Sephora birthday gift. I loved this color, and the texture also worked well with my lips.

I wish all lipsticks came in this size!

NO7 Dramatic Lift Mascara

I bought this mascara after reading many great reviews, but unfortunately it smudged on me!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl eyeliner

I liked this eyeliner pencil, and the color was a little bit lighter than what I usually use.

NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base (link goes to my review)

I really liked this eyeshadow primer! It made my eyeshadow last very well!

Kao Sofina Prima Vista primer (link goes to my review)

This primer is really popular in Japan! It made my foundation last throughout the day, even though it didn’t keep my skin fully matte.

L’Oréal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray

I’m so glad that drugstore brands are coming out with setting sprays!

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche

This is a limited edition perfume that Estee Lauder launches each summer.  I loved this so much that I bought a full size bottle!

Seabreeze Deo + Water Deodorant (link goes to my review)

This is my staple deodorant and I go through it quite frequently!

Lush Yuzu and Cocoa shower gel (link goes to my review)

This is the most recent Lush body wash that I bought.  It is an interesting scent, a mixture of citrus and chocolate.

Muji Jojoba oil

I purchased this oil last winter to combat my dry skin. It worked well, but I think I prefer a lighter oil

Hope you enjoyed to see my empties!

Throwback: Favorites from February

Here is a look back at my favorites from February 2014 and 2015.

In February 2015, I liked:

L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow Crayon in Everlasting Gold

I effectively used this up!  It was a great chubby eye pencil, equally good as an eye base and as an all over eyeshadow.

Nichido 7x Volume Curl mascara (link goes to my review)

Nichido is a local brand that I found in the Philippines. These products were super affordable, and I liked this mascara a lot. If I ever have a chance to go to the Philippines again, I will definitely check this out!

Airless pump for foundation

I get these airless pump bottles at Daiso and other 100 yen stores. They are made of plastic, and are a hygienic way to store your foundations that come without a pump!

In February 2014, I liked:

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (link goes to my review)
I currently use sponges to apply my foundation, but if you like brushes better, this is the foundation brush that I recommend. It is soft, very affordable, and buffs your foundation in to a natural finish.
Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Misbehaved
(picture from my instagram account)
I haven’t been wearing anything on my nails in a very long time… They are no longer shown on the Sally Hansen website, so it looks like they may have been discontinued!  Oh dear – I liked them a lot!
Ahh yes, one of my favorite foundations ever. I think I talk about this product waaayyyy too much! This is only one of two foundations that I have ever repurchased.
Hope you enjoyed seeing my past favorites!

Throwback: Favorites from November

It’s not Thursday, but here is a look back at my favorites from November 2013 and 2014.

In November 2014, I liked:

MAC Blush in Cantaloupe
I loved this blush! I’m not even sure where it is… I’ll need to dig it out.  I went to a lot of trouble to find this blush!!  This is a peachy pink without shimmer.

MAC  Studio Finish concealer in NW25

Amazingly, I used this up entirely.  It took a long time!  I like how full coverage this is.  I even use this under my eyes, blended with a beauty blender.

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation (link goes to my review)

This is one of my most loved foundations, and pops up on my favorites regularly.  I was lucky enough to find a pump that fit it from Daiso.

In November 2013, I liked:

Although this was one of my favorite foundations for a long time, I don’t think I’ll ever repurchase this. The packaging is just too bulky!  Also, Revlon foundations are getting ridiculously expensive for a drugstore product.
Laneige firming sleeping pack(link goes to my review)
I never repurchased this because it is difficult to find in Japan. However, I’ve heard that it is now available at Target in the US! If you see it, I definitely recommend you pick it up.  Sleeping masks are a great easy way to pamper your skin while you sleep.  Amazingly, they don’t mess up your pillow!
Hope you enjoyed this look back at old favorites!

Review: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup

This is a review of the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup.

This is an iconic foundation, very well known for its long wear properties. I’m so surprised that I haven’t done a review on it yet, considering this is one of the few foundations that I have ever repurchased!

I have heard that this is a very thick, cakey looking foundation. I like to apply it with a wet makeup sponge, such as a Beauty Blender or a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge.  They thin out the coverage to make it look less cakey, while still retaining the coverage.

One watch out for this product is that the color names are not the same in certain parts of the world. I have this in 2W1 Dawn, which looks like is unavailable in Japan. Several Japanese bloggers have noted that the color of the product sold in Japan and that of an imported product are not the same, even for the same shade name.

I also don’t like that this product is a high end foundation, yet does not come with a pump. Fortunately, I was able to find a pump at Daiso (a Japanese dollar store) which fit perfectly.

What it does: (from Estee Lauder’s website)

Long-wearing makeup with 15-hour staying power. Looks flawless and natural. Lasts through heat, humidity, non-stop activity.  Won’t change color, smudge or come off on clothes. Feels lightweight and comfortable. For a look that lasts all day, without touchups.

Price: $39.50 for 1 oz. This product is 6000 JPY (about $60) in Japan. No wonder I buy it in the US!

Availability: This product can be found at department stores, Sephora, and at Estee Lauder’s website. This is pretty easy to find due to its popularity.

Shade range: This product is available in 35 shades. Only 6 are available in Japan.

What I thought:

This is one of the few foundations that last on me in the summer, due to the heat and humidity. My face does get oily in the summer, and I also sweat a lot.  Of all of the long wear foundations that I have tried, this is one of the best ones.  However, it is definitely not transfer proof for me in the summer, nor does it last 15 hours.

Would I repurchase?  Yes, I stock up when I’m in the US!

Hope you enjoyed this review!

Products I’ve repurchased – Makeup

Since I recently did a blog post on skin care products that I have repurchased, I decided to do a similar product for makeup and tools as well.  I rarely repurchase makeup products because there are always new products and new colors on the market. Many times, the product I bought has already been discontinued!

If you are interested to see what I repurchased in 2011, here are links to the old posts:

Makeup that I have repurchased:

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup

My go-to makeup in the summer! Many people say that this is a thick foundation. I like using it with a Beauty Blender to give a natural looking finish.

Kate Lash Maximizer

This is an eyelash primer from the Japanese drugstore brand Kate. It is affordable and works well to make my eyelashes thicker and longer.

Bibo eyebrow pencil

It is really hard to find light eyebrow pencils in Japan. Bibo is one of the few brands which sell light brown eyebrow pencils, so I have repurchased this product several times.

Daiso eyeliner coat

This is a top coat for eyeliner to prevent it from melting off. It looks like liquid eyeliner, and works well especially for my lower lash line.

Jordana 12 Hour Made To Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil

I like the Espresso Last color, which is a dark brown. The pencil is pigmented and quite soft.

Daiso Ever Bilena Eyebrow Coat (link goes to my review)

This is a top coat for the eyebrows, and is especially useful if you draw eyebrows with pencil.

Urban Decay Primer Potion (link goes to my review)

The famed eyeshadow primer! I still think this is the best eyeshadow primer that I have used so far.

Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation

I especially like the one for Oily/Combination skin. However, the last time I was in the US, this cost $13-14!  Wow, drugstore stuff is getting very expensive.

Tools that I have repurchased:

ELF Small Stipple Brush (link goes to my review)

I like using this to blend cream blushes. It is inexpensive and works well.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (link goes to my review)

I am still torn whether I like the original Beauty Blender or this one better. I definitely like the price of the Real Techniques sponge better!

Hope you enjoyed seeing what I have repurchased?
