Review: Daiso Eyeliner Coat

I like wearing brown eyeliner on my lower lash line, but I found that it never lasts. Even if I use an eyeliner which is supposed to stay in place all day, I would get smudges under my eyes.  I found something called an eyeliner coat, and it has become one of the must haves in my makeup routine!

What it does:

The applicator looks like a liquid eyeliner pen, and I use it to paint over my eyeliner.

Price: 100 JPY, about $1

Availability:  This product is available in Daiso stores. Daiso is one of the most popular 100 yen chains in Japan.

What I thought:  I really like using this product! It is the only way I can get my lower eyeliner to stay!!  One drawback is that this product stings if it gets too close to my eyes, so I don’t use it for my waterline.

Would I repurchase?  Yes, it is one of my must have products!

Hope you enjoyed this review!

Monthly Favorites #71: January, 2017

It’s cold. OK, so Kobe is not as cold as most places – but it’s cold enough that I am dreaming of warm tropical climates!  Here are my favorites for January.

Cheap makeup sponges

The Beauty Blender and the Real Techniques sponge that I bought when I was last in the US have worn out, and it was time for me to buy a new one. Rather than test all of the Beauty Blender lookalikes in Japanese drugstores, I decided to go back to these cheap disposable sponges.  The pictures is the ones from Muji, but I’ve found that the ones from Daiso work just as well.  They do absorb a lot of foundation, though.

Muji Jojoba oil

It’s cold and dry in Kobe, which means I need to seriously moisturize my skin. I’ve been using the Muji Jojoba oil for the areas where I have sensitive skin, such as the inner side of my elbows and behind my knees.

Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle (link goes to my review)

This is a nice pink lipstick which brightens up my face without looking like I put in any effort!

Hope you enjoyed my favorites!

Products I’ve repurchased – Makeup

Since I recently did a blog post on skin care products that I have repurchased, I decided to do a similar product for makeup and tools as well.  I rarely repurchase makeup products because there are always new products and new colors on the market. Many times, the product I bought has already been discontinued!

If you are interested to see what I repurchased in 2011, here are links to the old posts:

Makeup that I have repurchased:

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup

My go-to makeup in the summer! Many people say that this is a thick foundation. I like using it with a Beauty Blender to give a natural looking finish.

Kate Lash Maximizer

This is an eyelash primer from the Japanese drugstore brand Kate. It is affordable and works well to make my eyelashes thicker and longer.

Bibo eyebrow pencil

It is really hard to find light eyebrow pencils in Japan. Bibo is one of the few brands which sell light brown eyebrow pencils, so I have repurchased this product several times.

Daiso eyeliner coat

This is a top coat for eyeliner to prevent it from melting off. It looks like liquid eyeliner, and works well especially for my lower lash line.

Jordana 12 Hour Made To Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil

I like the Espresso Last color, which is a dark brown. The pencil is pigmented and quite soft.

Daiso Ever Bilena Eyebrow Coat (link goes to my review)

This is a top coat for the eyebrows, and is especially useful if you draw eyebrows with pencil.

Urban Decay Primer Potion (link goes to my review)

The famed eyeshadow primer! I still think this is the best eyeshadow primer that I have used so far.

Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation

I especially like the one for Oily/Combination skin. However, the last time I was in the US, this cost $13-14!  Wow, drugstore stuff is getting very expensive.

Tools that I have repurchased:

ELF Small Stipple Brush (link goes to my review)

I like using this to blend cream blushes. It is inexpensive and works well.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (link goes to my review)

I am still torn whether I like the original Beauty Blender or this one better. I definitely like the price of the Real Techniques sponge better!

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from August

Here are my favorites from August 2014 and 2015. Apparently I did not do a favorites post in August 2013.

In August 2014, I liked:

Martha Tilaar Caring Colours Everlast BB cream (link goes to my review)

This was a really great BB cream from a local Indonesian brand. It is very affordable, had good coverage for a BB cream, and worked well in the hot/humid Jakarta environment.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer Treatment (link goes to my review)

I picked this up when I went to the US solely because of all of the hype online. I usually don’t like products with applicators that cannot be cleaned, but this product worked so well that I was willing to overlook it!  I never repurchased this because I have a lot of concealers, but I still think this is one of the better under eye concealers that I have ever used.

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Elusive (link goes to my review)

I liked the color, but I ultimately decided that matte lips do not work for me!

Jordana Color Tint Blush Stick in Blushed (link goes to my review)

Ahh… another product that was constantly in my favorites until I used it up! Unfortunately I couldn’t find Jordana cheek products when I last went to the US. If you want to try them out, they are available on the Jordana website.

In August 2015, I liked:

Shirt Cool (link goes to my review)

This is still a must have product for every summer. Spray it on your clothes, and the minty cooling sensation will last for about 30 minutes. I used up this bottle early this summer and have since repurchased a new one.

Daiso Ever Bilena eyebrow coat (link goes to my review)

I have a feeling that many Japanese girls use this, or some product similar to this… if they grew up in the “thin eyebrow” phase of the 90s. This product is meant to be brushed on to your eyebrows (or the areas on your skin that you drew on) to ensure they do not “disappear”

Thick eyebrows have been the norm these past few years, but it looks like thin eyebrows may be coming back soon.

Gatsby Body Wipes (link goes to my review)

Yet another must have product for the summer. This is the best body wipe on the market in terms of how cooling it is! I have a packet at home and a packet at work.

Sparkly Soul Headbands

I use these headbands when I run to keep the hair out of my face. They really do not slip!

Hope you enjoyed a look back at my past favorites!

Monthly Favorites #62: February, 2016

February is usually the coldest month of the year in Japan, and there were a few days with extremely cold weather.  The humidity during this season tends to be very different depending on where you live as well.  If you live along the Sea of Japan, you’ll have almost non-stop snow during the winter. However, the humidity hits the Japan Alps, causing the area along the Pacific Ocean to be extremely dry.  My favorites this month are all related to how I kept my skin moisturized!

Urban Decay Primer Potion

While everyone loves UDPP, I prefer the Milani Eyeshadow Base.  I pulled out my UDPP again this past month because it is a little bit creamier, which works better during the dry months.

Daiso Silicone Mask

This is a face-shaped mask made of silicone, which is meant to go over your sheet masks, to keep them from evaporating as quickly. It even has ear holes to keep it in place. The mask itself is a little big for me, but since it is only $1, I am thinking of cutting off the excess to make it fit better to my face.

Muji Jojoba oil

This has been my go-to moisturizer.  It is fairly light and does a good job at hydrating my skin.

Zombies, Run app

This is my current favorite running app. It lives up to the hype!

What were your recent favorites?
