Review: Chanel Chance Eau de Toilette

This is a review of the Chanel Chance Eau de Toilette.  I don’t think I would have ever tried out a Chanel perfume if it weren’t for samples.  Aren’t samples wonderful?

What it does: (from the Sephora website)

It’s your chance . . . TAKE IT! A decidedly young scent for those who dare to dream. A light, subtly sensual fragrance, filled with vitality and energy, evolves from one moment to the next, each wholly unique.

Top notes: Pink pepper, lemon, pineapple.  Middle notes: Hyacinth, jasmine, iris.  Base: amber, patchouli, white musk

Price: $60 for 1.2 oz

Availability: This is one of Chanel’s popular perfumes, and is widely available at Macy’s, Sephora, and other department stores where Chanel perfumes are sold.

What I thought: This is a good scent to wear to the office. It is feminine and strong, without being too sweet. Although the product description says that it is a young scent, I thought it would be a good perfume for young professional women.

Would I repurchase?  Yes.  I liked the scent, and I would wear it when I want to boost my self confidence in the workplace.

Hope you enjoyed this review!

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from July 2011 & 2012

Quite a few bloggers and Youtubers are doing a spin on Throwback Thursday, where they take a look at past favorites to see what they currently think of those products.  I thought I would jump on the bandwagon!

Here are my favorites from July 2011 & July 2012, along with some very old pictures.

In July 2011, I liked:

This is still one of my favorite mascaras. I liked that I can get volume without clumps, I liked that it did not smudge or flake, and I really liked that the cap clicks shut. I have also tried other mascaras from the L’Oreal Voluminous line, but this is still my favorite.
Chanel rouge Allure lipstick in Nude + Gosh lipstick in Darling
I haven’t worn this lipstick combination in a while. I remember that the Gosh lipstick in Darling was very hyped as the drugstore alternative to MAC Myth, and that I went to several drugstores in London to find it.  Although the Chanel lipstick is called Nude, it is a very coral color. The Gosh lipstick washed me out when I wore it alone, but it was very nice on top of other lipsticks.

In July 2012, I liked:

(link goes to a blog post with some swatches)
The L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows come up several times in my monthly favorites, most recently in May 2014.  Iced Latte was one of the first ones I ever purchased on a trip to the US, since these are (still) not available in Japan.
I really should do an updated swatch post on these since I love them so much!

Wow, it was fun to look back at the products I loved so much.  I think I’ll go hunt up the Chanel and Gosh lipsticks to wear again!

Please leave a comment telling me about some old favorites you rediscovered!

Up and Down #16 / A Piece of Me… in July 2011

I hope everyone is enjoying summer! It’s getting super hot here, but I heard that Tokyo is even hotter… 35 degrees C (95 degrees F)!  Tokyo is usually hottest during August… so does this mean it’s going to get even hotter?

Because of the nuclear incidents, I’ve heard that many companies in Japan have switched to a Tuesday-Saturday or Wednesday-Sunday work week, to reduce energy consumption on weekdays. Many people are doing their best not to use air conditioning, or to set their A/C much higher than they usually do.  What a difficult task when it’s so hot!!

On to my Ups & Downs!

Ups:
L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes (review coming up!)

This was part of my haul from Hawaii.  I’ve really loved most of the products I bought in that haul!

Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick in Nude + Gosh lipstick in Darling
Even though it is called Nude, the Chanel lipstick is very coral. Layering Gosh Darling on top gives me a great everyday milky nude lip color which doesn’t wash me out.

The Chanel picture is from Sept 2009, and the Gosh picture is from Oct 2010. At least my lighting skills have improved!

– Meeting up with Lulu!

– Eating lots of fruit, such as watermelon, lychee, mangoes, mangosteens, etc!

Downs:
– Not getting to play on my Wii Fit as much as I would like. I need to get back in the habit of doing this.

———————————–
It’s time for A Piece of Me in July 2011.
This month…

I like: being on Week 6 of the Couch to 5k!!!  Woohoo!!!  Now I can run 20 min without stopping!!

I don’t like: that I need to wake up at 6 AM on the weekends to run before it gets hot.

I want you to know: that I’m really, really trying to lose weight… how do I keep at it??

I’ve planned: to go back to Japan this month!
