Throwback: Favorites from February

I am getting tired of the cold weather.

I feel like I am constantly cold, and I’m always trying to find a way to warm myself up. I realize that I don’t dress warmly enough, mostly because many warm weather clothes make my skin itch.

And speaking of itching, my skin is driving me crazy. I have to SUPER DUPER moisturize, or else I unconsciously scratch myself to the point that I’m bleeding. The skin around my joints (the inner part of my elbows, my armpits, and knees) are the worst, but I also itch on my arms and lower legs as well. Hey, that’s almost everywhere!

Okay, let’s take a look back at my favorites from February 2016 and 2015, and hopefully I’ll feel a little better!

In February 2016, I liked:

Urban Decay Primer Potion

Yes, this is definitely a staple.  I’ve been using the Milani Eye Primer for a while, but maybe I’ll buy another UDPP next time I place an order to Sephora.

Daiso Silicone Mask

I don’t own this anymore, but I do recommend it if you need extra moisture from your face mask.

Muji Jojoba Oil

I never repurchased this.  Recently, I’ve been using plain baby oil on my skin, which is cheaper and more hydrating.

Zombies, Run app

After moving to Tokyo, I’ve been using this app to run almost every day! The storyline is great, and it makes running a lot more fun.  It’s free to use, and although I do pay for a premium subscription, I used the free version for over a year.

In February 2015, I liked:

L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow Crayon in Everlasting Gold

I didn’t repurchase this after I used it up. I think it’s a pretty good product, but I realized that I don’t really enjoy using chubby pencils on my eyes.

Nichido 7x Volume Curl mascara (link goes to my review)

This is a local product from the Philippines. If you have a chance to buy it, it’s worth it – and very cheap. I bought a bunch of drugstore products when I visited Manilla, and this was definitely the winner.

Airless pump for foundation

Definitely the best way to pump out foundation. And I can get this pump for 100 JPY at Daiso!

Hope you enjoyed this look back to my old favorites!

Favorites from 2016

Don’t you love seeing what people liked for the entire year?  Here are my favorite products from 2016.

If you are interested in seeing my past favorites, I have done an annual roundup for 201520142013201220112010, and 2009.

All links go to my reviews.

Best foundation:  Cover FX Custom Color Drops

This summer, I spent a lot of time diving. Because of this, many of my foundations were too light for me! Since I didn’t want to purchase a new foundation, I bought the Cover FX Custom Color Drops in  N70.  This is the shade “for medium to deeply tanned skin with neutral undertones”, and it worked out great to adjust my foundations.

Best face primer: Kao Sephora Prima Vista primer

It’s been a long time since a Japanese product excited me this much! This primer has been winning a lot of Japanese beauty awards since it was launched. I finally bit the bullet to purchase it, and it definitely makes my foundation stay on longer in the summer.

Best eyeshadow: Morphe 12S Soul of Summer eyeshadow palette

Ahh I wish I had been able to buy more Morphe stuff! This is a great eyeshadow palette with lots of every day neutral colors.  Even the blue-gray color in the right hand side works great on my eyes.

Best eyeshadow primer: Milani eyeshadow primer

I love how it keeps my eyeshadow from creasing.  I love the price, and I love that it is in a squeeze tube.  Definitely, this is the best eyeshadow primer at the drugstore!

Best makeup remover: MKB Aqua Cleansing oil

Surprisingly, this is a store brand product from Matsumoto Kiyoshi, a major Japanese drugstore chain. It is one of the cheapest cleaning oils available, and yet it takes off all of my eye makeup easily.

Best new skin care product: Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel

I bought this on a suggestion from a fellow blogger. This is such a great chemical peel and definitely worth the price tag.  My skin feels smoother and looks better every time I use it.

Best fragrance: Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne

Ah, if only Jo Malone perfumes were more affordable… This is such a wonderful scent which is feminine without being sweet or fruity.

Best hair product: Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

Another year, another salt spray. Salt sprays are my go to styling product in the summer months. This year, I finally found a product from the drugstore which works! I also love how this smells.

What were your favorite products of 2016?

Monthly Favorites #70: December, 2016

I am so behind on my blog posts! Here is a look back at my favorites from December.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation

This is an extremely liquidy foundation. I like to use this mixed with my more matte foundations for a natural look over the winter months.

NYX Dark Circle Concealer

This is eye opening for me. It doesn’t seem to have much coverage, yet my dark circles are less visible.

elf eye crease brush

I use this to apply the NYX concealer, since it is domed shaped and very small.

What have you been enjoying this past month?

Throwback: Favorites from December

I’m a little behind on my throwbacks again… but let’s take a look!  Here are my favorite products from December 2013 and 2014.

In December 2014, I liked:

Sally Hansen Salon Effects (link goes to my review)

I really, really loved these. This is the only way I could do my nails, since I just can’t handle waiting for my nails to dry.  I’ve been too busy to do my nails for the past year or so, but I still love these, especially with a gel topcoat.

Jordana Color Tint Brush Sticks (link goes to my review)

Ahhh I loved these! I wanted to pick up some more Jordana products when I was in the US this past spring, but they were no where to be found!  The only place I could find them was on Jordana’s website.

Baby oil

This is what I use to moisturize my body.  Recently, I have been using olive oil instead, since the fragrance in baby oil was irritating my skin.  Plus, olive oil is cheaper!

In December 2013, I liked:

Sally Hansen Salon Effects

See, I really loved these!

Revlon ColorStay Whipped Creme Foundation (link goes to my review)

As I mentioned in a previous throwback, I no longer recommend this foundation. I loved it for a very long time, but it is simply too expensive for a drugstore foundation. I also don’t like the packaging, which is way to bulky!

Kiko Automatic Precision eyeliner in the color 712 (link goes to my review)

I had heard so much about Kiko, and I was so excited to go to a store when I was in Italy. The prices were very affordable, and I really enjoyed this brown eyeliner.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my past favorites!

Throwback: Favorites from November

It’s not Thursday, but here is a look back at my favorites from November 2013 and 2014.

In November 2014, I liked:

MAC Blush in Cantaloupe
I loved this blush! I’m not even sure where it is… I’ll need to dig it out.  I went to a lot of trouble to find this blush!!  This is a peachy pink without shimmer.

MAC  Studio Finish concealer in NW25

Amazingly, I used this up entirely.  It took a long time!  I like how full coverage this is.  I even use this under my eyes, blended with a beauty blender.

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation (link goes to my review)

This is one of my most loved foundations, and pops up on my favorites regularly.  I was lucky enough to find a pump that fit it from Daiso.

In November 2013, I liked:

Although this was one of my favorite foundations for a long time, I don’t think I’ll ever repurchase this. The packaging is just too bulky!  Also, Revlon foundations are getting ridiculously expensive for a drugstore product.
Laneige firming sleeping pack(link goes to my review)
I never repurchased this because it is difficult to find in Japan. However, I’ve heard that it is now available at Target in the US! If you see it, I definitely recommend you pick it up.  Sleeping masks are a great easy way to pamper your skin while you sleep.  Amazingly, they don’t mess up your pillow!
Hope you enjoyed this look back at old favorites!
