Throwback Thursday: Favorites from August

Here are my favorites from August 2014 and 2011. It looks like I didn’t do a favorites in August 2013 or 2012.

In August 2014, I liked:

Martha Tilaar Caring Colours Everlast BB cream (link goes to my review)

I am still loving this, and in fact, I am almost out of this! I’ve been trying to get through it this summer, and it looks like I may just accomplish my goal!

Martha Tilaar Caring Colours Everlast BB Cream

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer Treatment (link goes to my review)

Since this is not sold in Japan, I never got a chance to buy it again after using it up. I was surprised at how much I liked it, considering my dislike for applicators that cannot be cleaned.

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Elusive (link goes to my review)

This is a great color that I love using in the summer!

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Lip Balm in Elusive

Jordana Color Tint Blush Stick in Blushed (link goes to my review)

This is my go-to cheek product in the summer, and I am definitely using it almost daily even now!

Jordana Cosmetics Color Tint Blush Sticks

In August 2011, I liked:

The Body Shop’s Tobacco Flower perfume

Ahhh… this is a cult favorite.  This perfume was very popular when I was in high school, and got discontinued. It was re-released for a limited time a few years ago, and I immediately picked it up. I am still looking for a perfume which is similar to this one!

I’m surprised to see how many of these products are still my favorites. It looks like I don’t change up my routine a lot during the summer!

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from February

This month, I revisited my monthly favorites from 20122011 and 2010.

My favorites products from February 2012 were:

This was a great inexpensive eyeliner which did not transfer!  I really enjoyed it, even though I did not like the brush or the packaging.
Unfortunately, I don’t wear this anymore since I switched to brown pencil eyeliners. I found that the combination of using the color brown and using a pencil eyeliner gave me a softer look.
This was an impulse buy while I was meeting up with another blogger.  I haven’t repurchased this product since Maybelline comes out with so many mascaras each year!

My favorites products from February 2011 was:

Lush Glogg Shower Gel (link goes to my review)

This product was a favorite over the holidays because the scent reminded me of mulled wine. While this product was re-released for the 2011 and 2012 holiday season, it was not released for the 2014 holiday season.

My favorites products from February 2010 was:
MAC 219 brush
I remember being so excited about finally getting a MAC 219 brush. I still love this brush and use it every day.  I have bought another 219 brush, and the shape is totally different. Since these are handmade, I strongly suggest that you take each brush in your hand and test it out before buying it.
Hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane!

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from January

This month, I revisited my annual favorites from 2011 and 2010.

My favorites products from 2011 were:

St Ives Green Tea cleanser (link goes to my review)

This is still my favorite cleanser. It foams up when I use a face washing net, it is lightly exfoliating, and I love the scent. However, it is a little hard for me to find when I go to the US recently.

Mezaik

I used to use Mezaik to change the shape of my double eyelids. This may sound strange to you, but it is a huge obsession for many Japanese and Asian girls. I haven’t used Mezaik recently as I realized it makes me look sleepy in pictures. The packaging of Mezaik has changed recently, so watch out for that if you are looking for it.
I never repurchased this mascara since there are so many on the market. I remember I liked it because it did not smudge under my eye and gave me good volume.
Gosh Lipstick in Darling
This is a super affordable version of MAC’s Myth. Unfortunately both make me look dead. However, I like to layer this on top of other lipsticks which are too bright on my face.
Sonia Kashuk blush brush
I have a love hate relationship with most blush brushes, but I like this one because it is soft and the hairs do not irritate my skin.  It is also super affordable!
Clarisonic
After owning a Clarisonic for several years, it seems that mine will no longer hold a charge.  I may have to repurchase it soon.

My favorites products from 2010 were:

Soap & Glory The Fab Pore Facial Peel (link goes to my review)

Since Soap & Glory is not widely available in Japan, I never got a chance to repurchase this product. This is a great mask for getting gunk out of your pores.  Lush’s Mask of Magnaminty has a similar effect.

Lush Honey I Washed the Kids Soap (link goes to my review)

I never repurchased this product since Lush has so many soaps that I can’t keep up!  This product and Lush’s It’s Raining Men shower gel have the same scent, so you can choose whether you prefer soaps or shower gels.

Lush Coal Face Cleanser (link goes to my review)

As much as I loved this product, I never repurchased it! I may decide to pick this up again in the summer.

VOV Watershot Foundation  (review here and here)
This was my favorite foundation while I lived in China.  It is a very natural looking foundation which feels very light on the skin. These days, I prefer my Estee Lauder Double Wear.
Barry M Dazzle Dusts in Mushroom (mentioned several times in my blog, look here)
This is still one of my favorite Barry M Dazzle Dusts. Each pot contains so much product that I am still working through them, 4 years later!
(swatch second from left)
Sonia Kashuk Flat Top Brush (mentioned several times in my blog, look here)
This used to be my favorite way of applying foundation. These days, I prefer round top brushes, such as the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.

MAC 217
I still use this every day and it is one the essential brushes in my collection.  Since they are hand cut, each one is slightly different.  I definitely like one of my 217s better than the other!
Hope you enjoyed this look back to my old favorites!

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from November 2011 & 2012

This month, I’m revisiting my favorites from November 2011 & 2012.

In November 2012, I liked:

Lush Twilight shower gel (link goes to my review)
This product was limited edition for the 2012 holiday season, has not been rereleased since. I liked that the lavender scent of this product, and am disappointed it has not become a standard for Lush’s holiday collection!

Daiso False eyelashes (link goes to my review)
These were the first false eyelashes that I used, and I still haven’t found a better product for the price. If you want to wear falsies for a special occasion, there are so many different types at Daiso that there’s bound to be one that suits you. If you wear falsies regularly, I prefer the ones from Donki.

In November 2011, I liked:

MAC Honey Lust Eyeshadow
I haven’t worn this eyeshadow recently! I remember that it was a little flakey, and the payoff was not so good. If you like intensely shimmery eyeshadows, I recommend Fyrinnae.

NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow pencil in Yogurt
Wow, what a jump back in time!  Back then, it was impossible for me to find a cream eyeshadow that did not crease on my eyelids.  The NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils were also very popular in the beauty blogger world as well.  These days, I recommend the Milani Shadow Eyez eyeshadow pencils, which come in great colors, and also do not crease!

Hope you liked this trip back through memory lane!

Throwback Thursday: Favorites from October 2011 & 2012

This month, I’m going back to October 2011 and 2012 to revisit my favorites.

In October 2011 & 2012, I liked:

Lush Godiva solid shampoo
Out of all of the Lush solid shampoos I’ve used so far, this is the one I recommend the most. It is the least drying to my hair.

Lush It’s Raining Men shower gel
This was limited edition when I first purchased it, but has since become a permanent product. This is a great shower gel if you like the Lush Honey I Washed the Kids soap.

Queen Helene Oatmeal ‘n Honey Facial Scrub
Considering how much I liked this facial scrub, I am surprised I don’t have a review on it.  I should repurchased it on my next visit to the US!

Sonia Kashuk Flat Top Brush
This was my favorite foundation brush for a long time, although now I prefer the Real Techniques expert face brush.

You can see that unfortunately, I haven’t repurchased any of the products I listed in my favorites. There are quite a few that I recommend, though, so please try these products out if you have a chance!

Hope you enjoyed this look back at my previous favorites!
