Review: Lush Mangnificent Soap

This is a review of the Lush Mangnificent Soap. I recently went into Lush with the intent of buying a new shower gel… and I found that I had already tried (and reviewed!) all of the shower gels that were sold at Lush Japan.  Although I don’t usually go towards soaps, I bought this one!

After posting this picture on Instagram, I got a few comments from my friends saying it looks like pork belly!

(picture from my Instagram)

What it does: (from the Lush USA website)

Turn up the energy on groggy mornings with this juicy splash of soapy paradise! Simply strip down and suds up to get whisked away on a sunny adventure of fresh fragrance: zingy Sicilian lemon oil, mandarin oil and neroli oil awaken your senses and brighten up dull-looking skin. Fresh pureed mango and dried mango slices tone and gently exfoliate the skin, leaving it looking vibrant, feeling fresh and smelling gorgeously fruity. Now you’re ready for action!

Price: Lush USA lists this for $6.95 for 3.5 oz

Availability: Lush products are available at freestanding Lush stores globally. Also, Lush ships from their UK online store globally for a quite reasonable shipping cost

Scent: This soap has a very fruity, mango-y scent… which is when I realized that the name of this product is a play on the words mango and magnificient!

Pros:

  • This product does not have a strong scent. This is rare for Lush soaps – usually my entire bathroom smells like the soap
  • This was a gentle soap, if that is what you prefer

Cons:

  • I did not get quite as much lather from this soap as I usually do from other Lush soaps

Would I repurchase? Maybe.  While I didn’t dislike this soap, there wasn’t anything memorable about it.

I’m really looking forward to the fall releases from Lush, and hopefully there will be some new products for me to review!

Hope you enjoyed this review!

Review: Rosette Cleansing Paste Ghassoul Bright

This is a review of the Rosette Cleansing Paste in Ghassoul Bright. Rosette is a line of facial cleansers that are “an oldie but a goody” for people with acne. I remember using them when I was in high school. At the time, they were only available in pots, which gets kind of messy.

Rosette Cleansing Paste

What it does: (from the Rosette website)

Eliminate dullness for a lustrous, transparent glow. Face wash made with Moroccan ghassoul clay and argan oil.  This thick foam is made with fine ghassoul clay powder that cleanly washes away the leftover melanin, waste products, and dead skin cells that can lead to dull, lusterless skin.  Refreshing spicy herbal scent.  Whisk away dullness with ghassoul. Maintain beautiful skin with argan oil.

Price: 453 JPY for 120g

Availability: This and other Rosette products are widely available in Japanese drugstores, but they are usually in the bottom row or in other hard to find places. This is a bit of a niche product!

Pros:

  • This is a great product if you have oily skin. It did a great job at keeping my skin clear during this year’s hot summer
  • The squeeze tube is much easier to use than the original pot

Cons:

  • This product is a little harsh if you have dry skin.

Would I repurchase? Maybe. I’ll probably go back to this product each summer, but for the rest of the year, I need something a bit more gentle.

Hope you enjoyed this review!

Review: Lush Love soap

The Lush Love soap totally took over my Instagram a little while ago. It seemed that right after the US Supreme Court ruled that state bans on same sex marriage were illegal, the Lush Love soap exploded.  Obviously, I needed to buy it!

(Picture from my Instagram)

Lush has had several products called “Love” or something similar. This product may be better known as the #GayIsOK soap!  I love the #GayIsOK hashtag, I love the golden glitter, and I love that Lush is supporting LGBT rights!

What it does: (from the Lush website)

Lather up and love your skin with our palm free soap base, scented with the iconic Love fragrance. Love the LGBT community and the campaign group All Out, when money from your purchase funds grassroots campaign groups around the world. But before you get your bar wet, show your love online by posting a Love Soap selfie to say that you think #GayIsOk!

Price: $5.95 for 4.2 oz in the US, 650 JPY for 120g in Japan

Scent:  I read another review which called the scent “a rich, full-bodied citrus”, which I completely agree with.  It smells like citrus zest but much fuller and earthier, like bergamot and cinnamon.

Availability: This soap is available at Lush and Lush Online. Surprisingly, I could not find it on the Lush UK website.

Pros:

  • I LOVE the scent.
  • I love the cause
  • The golden glitter is biodegradable and does not get everywhere
  • the product is vegan!
  • This soap creates a creamy lather, which did not strip my skin.

Cons:

  • Although I know that all Lush products use biodegradable glitter, I felt uncomfortable using this to wash my face, in case it got in my eyes.

Would I repurchase?  Yes, I wish this product were permanent!  I really liked the scent of this product, and I loved how the glitter made it look!

Hope you enjoyed this review!

Review: Eucerin Intensive Repair Extra-Enriched Hand Creme

As I have grown older, I have found that my body needs more moisture and protection. I used to never wear hand cream, but I have found in this past year that not only do I need to apply hand cream in the winter, I need to apply it regularly all year around! This is a review of the Eucerin Intesive Repair Extra-Enriched Hand Creme, which was recommended to me by a friend (and I think this was also sent to me by a friend)!

Eucerin Intensive Repair Extra-Enriched Hand Creme

What it does: (from the Eucerin website)

Repair dry, rough hands and cuticles with a creme specially formulated to moisturize and protect. This unique, non-greasy formula intensively moisturizes, and is enriched with buffered alpha hydroxy to gently exfoliate. Discover noticeably smoother hands after just one application.

Sunburn Alert:
This product contains alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), which may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun, and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.

Price: The price will vary depending on where you buy it. Rite Aid’s website lists this product for around $6

Availability: This product is widely available in US drugstores

Pros:

  • I really liked that this was not greasy!
  • When I applied this product to my hands, it absorbed into my skin without leaving any residue
  • This product hydrated my skin and left it feeling smooth

Cons:

  • none, really, but I didn’t notice the claim about sunburn

Would I repurchase? Yes, I liked this hand cream a lot!

Hope you enjoyed this review!

This is a review of the Noevir Cleansing Crystals. Although Noevir is a Japanese brand, I received this as a gift from a non-Japanese friend. This product itself is not available in Japan!

Pros:

  • This is a powdered cleanser. With a facial net, it produces a good lather
  • With regular use, I felt that the skin on my face had a better cell turnover than before.
  • I usually suffer from acne in my chin area in the summer, but I had less acne than usual when I used this product.

Cons:

  • It’s pricey for a product which is simply washed off of the skin

Would I repurchase? maybe.  While I liked the product, I felt that I could find something similar at the drugstore.

It was very surprising that I couldn’t find this product in the Noevir Japan line! I’m glad I had a chance to try it, and that it helped my skin to be clearer!
