Review: Prada Candy Eau de Parfum

While I love trying out new perfumes, I usually like scents that are woodsy or marine-like.  But once in a while, I like to try out something which is sweet and girly.  Perfume samples are a great way to do so, and I’m glad I got to try out the Prada Candy Eau de Parfum.

What it does: (from the Sephora website)

Prada Candy is a fragrance with a novel olfactory balance combining exceptionally high-quality ingredients in excessive proportions. Magnified by white musks, noble benzoin comes together with a modern caramel accord to give the fragrance a truly unique signature.

Key Notes: White Musks, Benzoin, Caramel Accord

Price: $68 for 1 fluid ounce

What I thought:

This is a sweet fragrance! I didn’t feel that it was very musky, but I definitely picked up on the caramel scents. Many of the online reviews commented that it smelled like baby powder, but I thought it smelled more like vanilla.  This fragrance reminds me of a girl on a romantic date – provided, of course, that her date also likes this scent!

Would I repurchase? No. I liked this scent well enough to use up the sample, but I don’t think I could handle and entire bottle. For sweet scents, I prefer the Dior Miss Dior, which combines fruity scents with the sweetness.

Review: Robert Piguet Fracas Eau de Parfum

This is a review of the Robert Piguet Fracas Eau de Parfum. This is a sample that I received from a friend!

What it does: (from Nordstrom’s website)

Create a little chaos with this lush white floral. Distinctly feminine, this intoxicating, classic fragrance combines tuberose, jasmine and gardenia with a hint of orange blossom before giving way to a base of sandalwood, vetiver and musk. Fracas is the signature fragrance for women who want to make an unforgettable impression.

Top notes: bergamot, mandarin. Middle: jasmine, tuberose, gardenia. Base: musk, sandalwood.

Price: $150 for 3.4 oz. Pricey!

Availability: I was able to find this product online at Nordstrom’s and Neiman Marcus.

Scent: I felt this scent smelled strongly of bergamot, musk and sandalwood. After I used it a few times, I smelled more of the tuberose.

What I thought:  This scent was overpowering to me. I had to apply it extremely sparingly to ensure I did not apply too much.

Would I repurchase? No. I also didn’t like that this was a dark yellow color.

Hope you enjoyed my review!

Review: Cartier La Panthere Eau de Parfum

This is a review of the Cartier La Panthere Eau de Parfum.  It is one of the samples I received from a friend.

What it does: (from the Sephora website)

The luminous La Panthère Eau de Parfum Légère unveils a new facet of the original chypre-gardenia-musk accord. The floral felinity is newly illuminated by tiaré flower notes for a wake of sensuality warmed by amber rays of sunshine. The captivating fragrance for the free and passionate woman, it combines a radiant, floral heart with velvety notes of musk.

Price: $70 for 0.8 oz.  This is a pricy product!

Scent: According to the Sephora website, this product has notes of musk, gardenia, and tiare flower.

Availability: This perfume is available at Sephora, Nordstrom, and other department stores.

What I thought: I found that this was a pretty generic scent.  A lot of the expensive floral perfumes smell the same to me, of gardenia and musk.  This is also very pricy for a perfume – maybe because of the Cartier brand name? I thought I could find other perfumes which smell the same on me, at a slightly lower price point.

Would I repurchase?  No, unfortunately this was not a memorable scent for me.

Hope you enjoyed this review!

Review: Kate Spade Live Colorfully Eau de Parfum

This is a review of the Kate Spade Live Colorfully Eau de Parfum.

What it does: (from the Sephora website)

Live Colorfully is for the woman who lights up every room she enters. The subtle notes of the fragrance—layered with a complex spectrum of bright florals, citrus, and musk—remind her to step into the world of color around her. The notes shift playfully throughout the day to delight and surprise. The key note of gardenia is at the heart of this uplifting fragrance, but it’s the unexpected mix of classic vanilla and musk, along with exotic touches of coconut water and tiarè flower, that lend Live Colorfully its complexity and lasting depth.
Notes: Mandarin, Pink Water Lily, Star Anise, Golden Gardenia, Tiaré Flower, Coconut Water, Sheer Amber, Musk, Tahitian Vanilla.

Price: $55 for 1 oz. This seems to be the normal price range for perfumes that can be bought at Sephora.

Availability: This perfume can be found at Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom, and other department stores.

Scent: This perfume has a floral scent with strong lily notes. I thought the star anise would be very polarizing but I could not detect it on my skin.

What I thought: If you like lily scents, you will probably like this perfume. In general, I found it to be a rather generic floral scent, and not very memorable to me. I liked that it was not overly sweet, and I would think it is appropriate for the corporate workplace.

Would I repurchase? Probably not. I liked it, but it was not a memorable scent.

Review: Chanel Chance Eau de Toilette

This is a review of the Chanel Chance Eau de Toilette.  I don’t think I would have ever tried out a Chanel perfume if it weren’t for samples.  Aren’t samples wonderful?

What it does: (from the Sephora website)

It’s your chance . . . TAKE IT! A decidedly young scent for those who dare to dream. A light, subtly sensual fragrance, filled with vitality and energy, evolves from one moment to the next, each wholly unique.

Top notes: Pink pepper, lemon, pineapple.  Middle notes: Hyacinth, jasmine, iris.  Base: amber, patchouli, white musk

Price: $60 for 1.2 oz

Availability: This is one of Chanel’s popular perfumes, and is widely available at Macy’s, Sephora, and other department stores where Chanel perfumes are sold.

What I thought: This is a good scent to wear to the office. It is feminine and strong, without being too sweet. Although the product description says that it is a young scent, I thought it would be a good perfume for young professional women.

Would I repurchase?  Yes.  I liked the scent, and I would wear it when I want to boost my self confidence in the workplace.
