This is a review of the L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Waterproof Mascara.
This mascara has a really interesting wand. It is smaller at the tip and wider at the base, but only on one side.
The wand is supposed to be used so that the tip is faced toward your nose. The larger side of the wand is supposed to catch your lashes and make them longer, effectively giving you a cat eye effect.
What it does: (from L’Oreal’s website)
Stretch and extend your lashes like wings! Introducing Voluminous Butterfly Mascara, one of L’Oréal Paris most-exciting mascara innovations, yet. It’s revolutionary Butterfly Brush with asymmetrical lash line shape extends and lifts outer corner lashes to give you a winged-out effect, instantly volumizing lashes at the roots and stretching lashes outward. The unique Cocoon Fibers instantly wrap lashes in a soft, delicate veil to create silky, spectacular lashes that flutter.
Price: varies. Ulta lists this product for $8.99
What I thought:
I really expected this to be a gimmicky mascara. What in the world was going on with this wand? I don’t like mascara wands which are not symmetrical, because I like doing both my right and left eye with my dominant hand. On top of this, I had to hold this wand ensuring that the side with the long comb was always facing up. All of this was too much of a hassle for me.
After using this for a few weeks, I felt that the mascara itself was OK. It made my eyelashes look longer, and they became side swept.
However, this mascara smudged under my eyes. Smudging is the biggest no-no I have for mascara. I would deal with the hassle if only it didn’t smudge!
Would I repurchase? No.
Hope you enjoyed my review!
