This is a review of the Naive “Usable in the bath/shower” Cleansing Oil.
I prefer using cleansing oils to take off my makeup because they dissolve my makeup quickly, making my nighttime routine very quick and efficient. Cleansing oils are probably the most popular type of makeup remover in Japan. There are many brands available, and many of them are available at drugstore prices.
However, there are some duds as well. Some of them have a very strong fragrance. Some of them don’t rinse cleanly and leave an oily residue on the skin. Still others are not good at removing my eye makeup. Let’s see how this one performed!
Naive is a brand owned by the Japanese company Kracie. Many of their products are marketed with ingredients which are supposedly gentle on the skin.
What it does: (from the Kracie website)
Can be used with wet hands, this cleansing oil does not require additional face washing after removing makeup. Contains olive oil and sunflower seed oil. Gentle on the skin, removing makeup quickly. Removes mascara and unclogs pores.
Price: varies, but I found it online at around 600 JPY ($5) for 250 ml.
Availability: This and other Naive products are widely available in Japanese drugstores.
- This product removes my face makeup quickly and efficiently
- While most cleansing oils cannot be used with wet hands, I used this one in the shower and it still worked well (note: it does not work well to remove makeup if your face is already wet)
- This product rinsed clean and does not have a strong scent
- When I wore very heavy eye makeup, I needed to apply more cleansing oil than usual to remove everything
Would I repurchase? Yes, I really liked this product.
