This is a review on the Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee. When the Lip Butters came out, everyone was all over them. A light lipstick! It hydrates your lips! You can get just a hint of color!! So many brands came out with similar products, seemingly all at once.
My biggest issue with lipstick is that most formulas make the skin on my lips peel. It isn’t painful, but looks horrible and is a pain in the neck. Thinking that the hydrating aspect of this product could help, I was very interested to try out the Lip Butters. I was looking forward to trying them out when they came out in Japan, until I found out how much they cost… they are twice the price in Japan versus the US!
I finally picked up a few on a trip to the US last spring. Creme Brulee ended up being too light in color for me, but I like to use it to tone down my red lipsticks and make them more wearable.
What it does: (from the Revlon website)
Pamper your lips with a gel formula that provides super-charged hydration and glides on buttery smooth. In fact, 94% of women’s lips felt were softer, smoother, and instantly hydrated.
Price: As with all US drugstore products, the price will vary depending on where you purchase it. Target.com lists this product for $6.50. For comparison, it is 1500 JPY (about $12.50) in Japan.
Availability: Revlon is a widely available brand in the US. It can be found at drugstores (such as Walgreens or CVS) and many supermarkets, including the huge chains Walmart and Target.
- This is a hydrating lipstick with some color
- I enjoy layering this lipstick over brighter lipsticks to tone down the color
- This lipstick does not last that long on my lips.
Would I repurchase? Probably yes, and I’m interested to try other shades in this line!
