Review: Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes

This is a review for the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes!

I got these during my trip to New York!
What it does:
Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes effectively dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and make-up–even waterproof mascara–for clean, fresh skin in one easy step. These gentle, ultra soft cloths contain superior cleansing technology so effective it removes even waterproof mascara. With one step, it leaves skin thoroughly clean with no heavy residue, so there’s no need to rinse. And it’s gentle enough to use around the sensitive eye area, even for contact lens wearers.

(from the Neutrogena website)

Price: I’m not sure how much I paid, but the refill pack was $5 at and $7.99 at  Each pack contains 25 pieces.

Size: 7.4 inches x 7.2 inches, or 19 cm x 18.5 cm, according to the package.  It is pretty big!

– VERY moist!  I usually find makeup wipes to be too dry to effectively remove makeup, but this was really good!
– didn’t irritate my eyes
– got everything off, including my eyeliner and mascara
– not drying
– each sheet is BIG, which means I can always find a clean spot to wipe with.  If I wipe with a spot which is already dirty, that’s not really making my skin clean!

– the instructions say not to rinse afterwards.  Huh?????  I can understand that they say “no need to rinse”, but the instructions on the website say “do not rinse.”  Not rinsing makes me uneasy (and yes, I always rinse afterwards).

– A friend said that my face was red after using these.  This happened multiple times.  This is really weird because the wipe was not irritating to my skin.  I think that maybe my skin just doesn’t like getting rubbed…

– they close with a sticker (vs a ziplock bag), which means they will dry out over time

Would I repurchase?  Yes!

All in all, I really liked these.  I don’t like using wipes for everyday usage, but that is my personal preference and doesn’t really have to do with this product in particular.  I wish they were available in Japan!

Having said that, I’ve read numerous reviews saying that the Target brand wipes are just as good, and they are slightly cheaper!  It’s worth checking them out if you can get a hold of them!

Hope you liked that review!  Please let me know if there’s anything else you would like me to review from my New York Haul (posts here and here)!!

  1. I actually wanted to buy these, and now I know I will. I really appreciate the review, and yes, I would always rinse after too, because I wear contacts and I don’t like that stuff in my eyes~
    Great review!

  2. Thanks for the review Kay! Epille brand wipes are pretty good too, and cheap! LOL! But nothing beats the COSTCO brand ones on value price! Haha!!

  3. I love these wipes! I use them everyday. I was using that one but Neutrogena came out with wipes that are hydrating so I use those now. I usually use the wipes to remove my makeup, rinse off and then cleanse with my facial soap and clarisonic brush.

I do have the Costco wipes too but don’t like them as much as the Neutrogena brand. I tried another brand too–I think that it was Dove but didn’t like those at all.

Kay, if you want me to help purchase these and mail it to you, I’d be willing to do so. Just email me and let me know.

  4. thanks for your wonderful tip, that’s my issue, I find these dry up faster and putting them on ziplock bag is a good idea!

  5. these are probably my favorite drugstore brand makeup wipes – I try not to use them often (and actually remove my makeup w/ cleansing oil/cleanser every night), but they’re great for nights when I’m too tired to do my whole routine. I always rinse off any residue afterwards too, even if they say you don’t need to. If you store the package upside down (sticker/seal down) that will help keep them moist, same trick as storing paint pots upside down 🙂

  6. I use the Target brand of this & I love them. I find that these don’t actually dry out much even though it closes with a sticker…just in my opinion.
