review: Skinfood Peach Sake Silky Finish Powder

This is a review for the Skinfood Peach Sake Silky Finish Powder.

This is (yet again) one of the recommendations I got for my Korea shopping list giveaway!

What it does: (according to the Skinfood Singapore site)
Contains ultra-fine micro-silica powder, which immediately tightens the pores and controls excess sebum. This unique loose powder sets your make-up with a matt finish, leaving skin smooth and clean.

Price: (I’m not sure, but probably less than 10000 Won, or $8)

– smells like peaches – fantastic!
– does a good job of making my face matte
– very finely milled
– the puff is very soft
– it’s a WHITE powder. Blend it very well!!!
– the container is tall and takes up a lot of space.

While I really like this powder, I wouldn’t use it on its own since it is white. I mix it in with my normal finishing powder so that I get the shine control benefit without looking pasty white.

But… where have I seen this powder before? The minute I touched it, I knew I had tried it before somewhere…

Here it is!!!

(from MUFE’s website)

Or should I say, this?

I’m not surprised, since most powders that boast oil controlling properties contain silica.

MUFE HD powder = Brand name pure Silica
Coastal Scents Silica Powder Spheres = pure Silica from a website with bad customer service (in a container that leaks)
Skinfood Peach Sake Silky Finish Powder = Silica with a great smell

It’s good to have options, isn’t it?

xoxo, K

  1. haha thanks for sharing this! now i know that peach sake is silica, but since i have a lot of silica powder, i’m not going to be buying this anytime soon. i know what you mean about the smell though, it’s great!

  2. Haha I love your breakdown in the end.. I agree that nice smelling silica is indeed better 🙂
I wish I had access to Skinfood! I want to try their Peach Sake line. I left my Tomato skincare by Skinfood in Japan (which I received as a gift. Yet to try it! I need to force my dad to pick it up at grandpa’s house.. hahaha)

  3. LOL Thanks for breaking down the options!! But peach smelling?! I’ll take that anyday! 🙂 And thanks for letting us know that it’s good to blend it was a natural colored powder! 🙂 We can’t all be gorgeous geishas! LOL!

  4. I guess Skin Food really has a great Peach Sake line. Their emulsion is seriously good for moisturizing the skin. It’s so pricey here in Manila, though! To think that Skin Food isn’t even that expensive in Seoul.

I’m a new follower btw! Great blog 🙂

  5. hey K, nice breakdown of all the different silica options. Blair just sent me a silica sample & i can’t wai to test it out :)) CS has bad customer service ? ><

  6. I have never given Skin Food make up (always loved their masks) much of thought, but after reading this review perhaps I would try! The only thing holding me back might be its colour though (white)…
Thanks for the review! I am new here ^_^

  7. I WANTED TO GET THIS!! Coz the smell was peachyutiful! hahahahah!! but it also blends quite well on my skin…U think it will go well for combo skin?
